Sometimes It’s Just The Little Things
As an avid backyard birder, I spend a lot of my time thinking of ways to increase my enjoyment of the birds I have, getting more birds into my yard and making sure all visitors find something they like while feeling safe. I go out of my way to actively discourage nuisance birds and to make the environment one that I would want to come to if I were a bird. Naturally, my neighbors think I’m insane and some of the tips I’ll be sharing with you might find you agreeing with them but that’s a risk I’m willing to take-LOL!
If I Find It Helpful Maybe You Will Too
As selfish as that might sound, I figure if something I’ve tried or figured out worked really well that maybe others would benefit from it. I think backyard bird feeding can be trickiy enough especially if you find yourself overrun with starlings, sparrows and grackles as I once did.
I’ve come by a system that has practically no nuisance birds in my backyard and I’m constantly entertaining new species. It’s a balancing act as you already know. Helping out one species often includes a measure of threat that another unwanted one will take advantage of it. Like suet for woodpeckers attracting starlings. I’m no more interested in spending my entire day putting up or taking down feeders, scaring away noisy menacing birds or being too frustrated to enjoy what’s going on back there.
I’ll Keep It Short And Sweet
From time to time, I’ll post short backyard birding tips in my blog that you can get and put to use quickly. If you want to go back and go over all of them at any time you merely need to select the “Quick Tips” category from the front page of my blog and they’ll all be there for you to peruse at your convenience.
I hope you’ll stop by, read and tell me your experiences using my tips or share some of your own. I think any successful blog has to be a two-way conversation and I hope you’ll be part of mine. Let’s see if we can’t help each other to have nuisance bird free backyards!
