Leupold BX-1 Yosemite 6×30 Binoculars Review

First Look at the Leupold BX-1 Yosemite 6×30 Binoculars

Most of us who enjoy bird watching love to pass along our hobby to children and grandchildren. We want to give them a good pair of binoculars to start out with, so their pleasure is enhanced with quality optics. Kids being kids, we don’t usually want to hand them a very expensive pair. The Leupold BX-1 Yosemite 6×30 binoculars serve as a great pair of field glasses for beginners. They are very affordable and offer great viewing characteristics. Plus, they can take the bumps and drops little ones are prone to hand them.

Focus on Features

These binoculars offer an extended width adjustment, so that they fit the eye width of most children and adults. The 6X magnification is plenty. So it’s easier for young user to find the object that mom or grandpa is trying to point out to them. Larger magnification might also prove to be shaky in little hands, so this pair is just right. The compact size is kid-friendly. They are rubber-coated to help small hands maintain grip. This is great for older hands, too, that might suffer from arthritis. That rubberized armor offers good protection, as well.

The Big Picture

If you have little ones you want to introduce to the joys of watching birds, wildlife, and passing clouds, the Leupold BX-1 Yosemite 6×30 binoculars is a very good choice. They are also available at 8×30 and 10×30 for those wanting more magnification. The optical characteristics are very good. Featuring multi-coated BAK-4 Porro prism lenses that eliminate glare and concentrate light for low-light viewing.  So all colors are crisp and clear with excellent contrast. The Twilight Light Management System can give you up to ten minutes of extra viewing time.

The models are waterproof, fog proof and shockproof. So if little ones have an “oops” moment it won’t spoil the fun or diminish their desire to become birders. Compact in size, big on viewing quality, the Yosemite models come at a price you can afford to place in youthful hands.

Finally, these binocs come with a GO-Afield bino case, deluxe shoulder strap, objective lens and eyepiece covers. So, you get gear ready to pack up and go now! All for around $100.00 US.

I agree with you, that would be a great binocular for a beginner.
